Printing your order
Paper Love Cards uses digital printing for all of it's products. It's faster, colour is vibrant and cost effective, and less work is involved in producing orders. Digital printing uses toner and is perfect for small print runs.
When we receive your artwork, it is checked for suitability and if required, modifications are made so that it works with each of our design shapes. This may mean cropping images, removing lines, adjusting sizing to fit, adding punch holes and creating various print and cut files for our programs. This can be quite time consuming with multiple emails to customers, and reworking files with any changes and additions.
To carry out this work we have an artwork set up fee which is applicable to all new orders, and to returning customers who are changing/updating artwork.
Previously the fee was a $10 flat charge however we have crunched some numbers and reduced this cost to $5 per item requiring new set up. We've also changed the way you select this option; it's now visible in each of the applicable product listings.
We've also implemented a Copy Change fee for multiple variations of the same product and we allow for 10 variations. (A variation is a repeat of the original file and we change the image or wording as required).
Once all the files are created, they are stored permanently on our drive so reordering is really easy. We have a secure, paid storage service and can access artwork from all of our devices. No more lost files! The best part is, you don't have to supply new artwork when you reorder and we don't have to create any files.
Our pricing is now totally transparent so you can plan and budget your print spend without any hidden charges.
To help you with preparing your artwork in the right manner we have added some helpful templates below.
Designing your own tags?
When designing your artwork please make sure you allow for a bleed.
What is a bleed? In printing, bleed is printing that goes beyond the edge of where the sheet will be trimmed. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off.
The bleed is the part on the side of a document that gives the printer a small amount of space to account for movement of the paper, and design inconsistencies.
Artwork and background colours often extend into the bleed area. After trimming, the bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document.
Do not include any lines on the artwork, they interfere with our set up process.
Designing your own candle dust cover?
When designing for candle dust covers an extra bleed allowance is required to include the tab. This ensures your design doesn't stop at the edge of the cover and it continues over onto the tab.
Make sure you allow for the centre wick hole too - we use a 5mm hole for cotton wicks or a 2.5cm x 5mm slit for wooden wicks.
Do not include any lines on the artwork, they interfere with our set up process.
